The Washington Post WP Intelligence included testimony from CAHC president Joel White on how consolidation of insurers in the ACA is driving up costs for patients.
“Consolidation occurred on both sides at once: a few dominant health systems and a few dominant insurers,” said Council for Affordable Health Coverage President Joel White in testimony last month before the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. “Instead of offsetting each other, this created stable but high-price equilibria — neither side had strong incentives to cut their prices.”
