Washington, D.C. – The Council for Affordable Health Coverage (CAHC) strongly supports the administration’s efforts to make health care price transparency data more accurate, accessible, and useful.
Patients and employers cannot make informed decisions when pricing information is buried in massive files or filled with incomplete and irrelevant data. The Transparency in Coverage final rule updates will address these problems by eliminating ‘ghost’ rates, standardizing reporting, and increasing accountability.
“For too long, insurers have avoided the spirit of the law, which is to provide Americans with accurate information on lower costs. That ends today,” said Joel White, President of the Council for Affordable Health Coverage. “Usable data makes health care more shoppable, helping patients choose high-quality, affordable care.”
CAHC will continue working with the administration and Congress to build on these reforms and advance greater accountability and affordability across the health care system.
