Desperate to Score Political Points, Senate Proposal Undermines Popular Medicare Part D
Washington, DC – Senate Democrats’ recycled drug pricing proposal is an unfortunate re-hash of what voters do not want—more government-run health care.
Imposing a litany of government first policies including price controls on prescription drugs would undermine the competitive model in Part D, which is overwhelmingly popular with seniors and consistently comes in under budget. The policy would also lead to a decrease in medical research essential for the development of new cures.
The government has proven time and time again that it is not equipped to address complex issues like prescription drug pricing.
