Washington, D.C. – The Council for Affordable Health Coverage commends the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee for advancing the Patients Deserve Price Tags Act (S. 2355).
Patients should know the price of their care before they receive it. By strengthening health care price transparency requirements and giving consumers clearer, more useful information, this bipartisan legislation will help patients compare their options, make informed decisions, and avoid unexpected costs.
Real transparency also brings greater accountability and competition to health care markets, putting downward pressure on costs for families, employers, and taxpayers. This lack of transparency hits small businesses especially hard. Employers with fewer than 50 workers often can’t access the claims and pricing data they need to understand their health care spending, compare options, and secure better value for their employees.
We thank the Committee and Senators Marshall and Hickenlooper for their leadership. Congress should build on this progress, move swiftly to pass the Patients Deserve Price Tags Act, and send it to President Trump’s desk.
