“ELIJAH H. CUMMINGS LOWER DRUG COSTS NOW ACT” WILL LEAD TO FEWER TREATMENTS, LESS CHOICE
CONGRESS SHOULD CAP OUT OF POCKET COSTS, PAY FOR VALUE
Washington, D.C. (March 11, 2021): Today the Council for Affordable Health Coverage (CAHC) issued the following statement on the “Elijah H. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act”:
“Unfortunately, this legislation establishes a new federal government takeover of health care, starting with prescription drug benefits. Creating a new price setting scheme under the guise of “direct negotiation” will result in fewer choices and treatments for all Americans.” said CAHC President Joel White. “This is the last thing we need in the middle of a pandemic–fewer medicines. Congress should abandon these draconian policies and put its energy into capping Medicare out of pocket costs for prescription drugs and paying for value based care.”
