Washington, D.C. (November 20, 2020): Today the Council for Affordable Health Coverage (CAHC) issued the following statement regarding the Interim Final Rule with comment implementing the Most Favored Nation model establishing price controls for prescription drugs.
“CAHC has long supported market-based policies to bring down the costs of health care, including prescription drugs. CAHC believes the Interim Final Rule cedes too much power to other countries to determine drug prices as well as having an impact on physician reimbursement here in the US. That’s a perilous path to take as many of these countries use price controls which are proven to limit patient access,” said CAHC President Joel White. “There are plenty of better solutions. CAHC has advocated for dozens of drug policy reforms like value based payment arrangements, transparency, reworking the Part D benefit, and other reforms. These are far better than the administrations’ radical approach.”
