CAHC sent a letter to the U.S. Senate today urging lawmakers to oppose the inclusion of any “Most Favored Nation” (MFN) or policies that institute government price controls on prescription medicines in the upcoming reconciliation package and during vote-a-rama consideration.
The letter highlighted that MFN proposals tie U.S. drug prices to those set by foreign governments, which frequently restrict patient access to medicines, delay availability of new therapies, and underinvest in biomedical innovation. And, that these systems achieve lower prices through centralized government controls and utilization restrictions that are fundamentally inconsistent with the patient-centered, innovation-driven framework that made the U.S. the global leader in developing new cures and treatments.
