Washington, D.C. – The Council for Affordable Health Coverage applauds Congress for including legislation that expands access to health savings accounts (HSA) in the final passage of the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’
For over 20 years, HSAs have helped Americans access affordable health coverage while allowing them to save, tax-free, for future medical needs. Now, thanks to Congress, millions more Americans will be able to contribute to their own HSAs and have more options on where and how they can use them, including for telehealth visits.
While HSAs are one tool to fight rising healthcare costs, CAHC hopes that lawmakers will use this momentum to address other factors influencing cost and access to care, like the Inflation Reduction Act’s government price-setting scheme. Set to go into effect in 2026, it is already raising seniors’ healthcare premiums while reducing the number of new treatments coming to market. Today’s win should power tomorrow’s fight.
