WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 14, 2020)- Today the Council for Affordable Health Coverage (CAHC) issued the following statement regarding the President’s latest Executive Order on Prescription Drug Pricing:
CAHC has long supported market-based policies to bring down the costs of health care, including prescription drugs. CAHC believes the approach outlined in the Executive Order cedes too much power to other countries to determine drug prices here in the US. That’s a perilous path to take as many of these countries use price controls which are proven to limit patient access,” said CAHC President Joel White. “There are plenty of better solutions. CAHC has advocated for dozens of drug policy reforms like value based payment arrangements, Medication Adherence in Parts B and D, transparency, reworking the Part D benefit, overhauling FDA and DOJ rules to expand competition in drug markets, and other reforms. These are far better than the administrations’ radical approach.”
