Washington, D.C. (July 24, 2020): Today the Council for Affordable Health Coverage (CAHC) issued the following statement regarding the President’s Executive Order on Prescription Drug Pricing.
“CAHC has long supported market-based policies to bring down the costs of healthcare, including prescription drugs. CAHC believes the right path forward is to deliver immediate cost savings for seniors by capping out-of-pocket costs in Medicare Part D, break down regulatory barriers that interfere with payors and manufacturers negotiating based on the value and outcomes prescription drugs provide to patients, and provide transparency tools to help consumers access lower cost drugs,” said Joel White, Executive Director. “We should relegate importation and linking our pricing to international pricing schemes to the ash heap of history and focus on innovative new ideas to lower costs.”
