WASHINGTON, DC (April 14, 2017): Today, the Council for Affordable Health Coverage (CAHC) – a coalition of employers, insurers, brokers, agents, patient groups, and physician organizations – responded to the Trump Administration’s final market stabilization rule. CAHC President Joel White released the following statement:
“CAHC applauds the Trump Administration for taking definitive action to stabilize markets and bring clarity to patients, providers, and insurers. This is a positive step as insurers evaluate participation in next year’s markets, but we know that further action is needed to prevent widespread disruption and loss of coverage. We call upon Congress and the Administration to fund cost-sharing reduction (CSR) payments, adopt Senator Alexander and Corker’s legislation to bring relief to individuals without options for coverage in the marketplace, and consider other stabilization measures to shore up this law until broader reforms can be enacted,” said CAHC President Joel White. “Policymakers have every reason to continue working to replace the ACA with more workable, patient-centered solutions, but with the new plan year rapidly approaching, it is imperative that Washington address this climate of uncertainty and ensure that Congress’s holding pattern is not anyone’s downfall.”
