Washington, D.C. (September 25, 2020): Today the Council for Affordable Health Coverage (CAHC) issued the following statement regarding the FDAs Final Rule and Guidance on Prescription Drug Importation:
“This final rule brings a false promise to Americans – the promise that costs will go down as a result of this rule. They will not. Drug makers will not sell excess supply to Canada and other countries. And Canada will not ship drugs off to US Consumers at the expense of their citizens,” said Joel White, President of the Council for Affordable Health Coverage. “Worse, doctors, other prescribers, and pharmacists may no longer trust the medicines they prescribe are safe and trusted. There are better ways to lower costs – a cap on Part D out of pocket costs, streamlining the drug approval process so more products have competitors to drive out high costs, paying for outcomes, not pills, and price transparency for consumers.”
